July 26, 200520 yr Hello all,After returning from my honeymoon, I discovered that a power surge had fried my computer's power source and motherboard. I've since upgraded to an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (socket 939), 1GB DDR RAM, with a GeForce MX4000 (128MB) vid card. I decided to install FS2004 to take advantage of my better performance.Needless to say, I was shocked to discover that my performance in FS2004 was very low...about 14-15 fps at CYYZ with no AutoGen, or AI traffic. This seems to be a problem..shouldn't my system (am using Win98SE as the OS)put out more punch than this?Any pointers or help would be appreciated.Cheers,Cale
July 26, 200520 yr I am going to move this to the MSFS hardware forum after responding, where you should get the info you're looking for. But a quick response first--you should certainly get more performance than that with no AI and Autogen. I get in the mid 20's with a P3/800. But, I have a GEF 4200TI. The MX 4000 series is fairly weak for FS9, even weaker than my 4200. FS9 requires not only a good cpu, it also requires good graphics hardware. Any bottleneck there could hurt any benefit the faster cpu gives.-John
