July 31, 200520 yr hi guysi am considering to get a high-edge graphics card.I presume that you will tell me to get a SLI thing. But my CPU has some mileage to go aNd i don't wanna upgrade it and the mainboard for a while(AMD ATHLON 2800+)so i am gonna get a card with AGP interface. As i checked the tomshardware reviews i saw the ATI RADEON X800XT PE.i liked the performance.so before gEttin' it i just wated to ask u if it will be able to handle FS2004 with out major frame probs.I am gonna use PMDG 747(when it comes out),some add-on sceneries(simflyers world airports,etc..)and fs skyworld stuff.sliders will be like medium-high(hope so).My system specs are :AMD ATHLON 2800+MSI KT600V mainboard(via chip set-400mhz fsb)Corsair 2x515 CL2.5 400MHZ RAM PC3200WESTERN DIGITAL 80 GB SATA 8MB CACHEand the ATI RADEON X800XT PE here is the card specs:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102502
August 1, 200520 yr Hi Umut, please allow me to ask a couple of questions; 1st, which display adapter are you currently using? 2nd, what kind of resolutions (or monitor) are you aiming at (or using)? I believe a display adapter will only increase performance at/for a given resolution (plus AA/AF settings). Hope this adds to thoughts, good luck and kind regards Jaap
August 1, 200520 yr Hi currently i am usin g ABIT Radeon 9600XT 256 MB and my monitor is ,quite old, Q50 IBM 15" as far as i remember. So i will use 1024x768 and currently i am getting sometimes frames below 20 even with FS2002(PSS 744 world airports some enviromental updates)so i wanna learn if this card will be enough to hadle FS2004 without major frame drops with the add-ons and the config i mentioned in the forst post thx.
August 2, 200520 yr Hi Umut, thanks for the reply. I fear a display adapter upgrade will not do much at 1024x. FYI, I once compared a 9800pro and a 9600pro at 1024x and the difference was nada, zip, zilch. I think you'ld benefit more from upgrading your CPU and mainboard. Ofcourse this might be a dearer path to follow... Hope this answers your question, good luck and kind regards Jaap
