August 15, 200520 yr Okay guys. Computer isShuttle AN35N MB1 meg 400mhz memoryBarton 2500 AMD CPUcurrently running 9600XT and want to upgrade to X800XT PE.Mostly use standard apps but main game is Flight Simulator 2004 with a ton of add-ons including the PMDG747-400 and Ultimate Traffic.I know the CPU is going to be a bit of a bottleneck, but am I wasting my money on the Video Card? Your opinions please.
August 16, 200520 yr It depends on how you look at it.Going to the X800,you should be able to run at higher resolutions, and higher graphics settings, however, don't expect a big jump in FPS.Running FS9 with those add-ons you have, you'll need more than just a video card upgrade.Stan
August 16, 200520 yr Actually, I am pretty happy with the 9600XT on my system with good graphics and reasonable framerates even at Heathrow using about 70% Ultimate Traffic and 6AA, 8AF. I got a present of an LCD, Hyundai which runs native at 1280x1024, 8ms and I noticed that have good framerates still but textures can take a bit to load and that induces some stuttering. I am getting a great price on the 800XT and hope for more smoothness and faster texture loading when changing views.
