August 16, 200520 yr I have owned my PC for 2 years now and it is a Intel 2.8 Ghz HT 800mhz FSB 512kb L2 Cache socket 478. I have 1GB DDRam and a Ge Force 6600GT Graphics card..... now I basically am basically flying the LDS 767 + PMDG 747 +737 and most of the time have Active Sky 5 and Ultimate Traffic running at around 80% traffic. At most airports my framerates are around about 10-16 fps and they drop in the VC to around 8 fps which I am finding difficult to enjoy... I have the target set at 20fps.... my question is if I upgraded to let say the Athlon 64 San Diego 4000 with new faster memory would I get a good increase in fps lets say up to around 20... (ps my sliders are all in the middle) or should I wait another six months to see if a new version is going to appear of Flight sim that might utalise dual core chips.....Any ideas most appreciated.........Hamish
August 18, 200520 yr I would definitely wait and try to tweak your FS9 to give you better performance. You should have little problems getting better performance with a few tweaks. For instance, lowering AI traffic to 50% or less would gain you a lot of frames. You might want to try my tweak to the FS9 config which gave me a great performance boost as follows. It's based on FS9 optimization guides I found within this forum and over at the Ultimate Traffic site: [DISPLAY]UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=50TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=60[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=96.000000TERRAIN_MIN_DEM_AREA=10.000000TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=200.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=20TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=4TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=40.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=60.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=1242456Hope this helps.Jim
