9800 PRO 128 to Geforce 6800 Ultra 256?

Featured Replies

I was thinking of upgrading my video card from an ATI 9800 PRO 128 to a Geforce 6800 Ultra 256. Before everyone bombards me with posts saying that it will not make any significant increase in FPS, rest assured that I am well aware of this. However, my question is will it allow me to use higher AA rates while at the same time maintaining my current FPS rate of about 20-30 FPS which is what I get with my current 9800 PRO using 6X AA. Thank you.

I went from the 9800Pro to the 6800GT OC.....I was able to run 1600x1200 resolution,4X AA,and still have about the same FPS as the ATI,,,however,I had to try so many different drivers,I gave up on it and returned it for ATI 800XL...The Ultra is suposed to be better than that 6800GT,so it might work out for you.To be honest,on my machine,(P4 3ghz,I gig RAM),the 800 XL works much better, plus I have my video in/out back. (I had the 9800pro AIW)Right now,I am running 4X AA,16xAF,most sliders maxed,Flight Environment, and Level-D 767,,,,average 20-30FPS,,but still get those annoying stutters, but all in all,it's pretty smooth.....Stan

I upgraded from ATI 9600XT with 17" CRT monitor to nVidia 6800 Ultra 256 mb with 19" LCD monitor on a P4 3 ghz 1 gig RAM machine. Very happy with both new items. Video card settings at 4xAA and 16xAF. FS9 settings at maximum detail and fps locked at 50.
