October 21, 200520 yr Hi all. Before I give up FS9, I will ask if anyone with a similar pc spec to the following is able to fly fs9 without problems. After over one hour with Microsoft they narrowed it down to graphic problems. My pc builder says it is a microsoft problem. Nvidia thinks Graphics.ASUS Possibly graphic or mobo.the cards have been checked in both slots and both cards work singly but still cause a problem.Problem is that when I run the mouse pointer over the instruments they do all kinds of strange things, the radio stack half disappears then pop up after been turned off, in spot view the plane will half disapear, and a lot more little anoying things. I am driving 200 miles to the supplier of the parts used to build my pc. (a) to check it a part is faulty and (:( to check if it has been put together right by my builder. The Spec. Mobo ASUS a8n-sli Premum / CPU AMD 64 X2 4800 /GPU 2X XFX 7800gt in sli /Ram Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200 TwinX(set manualy)2x W/D Rapters, not now in Raid stripe /1 W/D Cavier for storeage / PSU Akasa 650W powerplus active pfc atx2-4 12v rails and is recomended for sli. Sound soundblaster 2ZS /OPP. System Win XP Home. Removed the Windows pro 64bit until I can sort out these problems.Maybe I should just wait until the new Flight Sim comes out.If you can help before I go up to the suppliers I would appreciate it very much. All the BestRex
October 21, 200520 yr Tell us what kind of troubleshooting you have done so far? Have you tried re-installing FS9? Have you tried completely wiping your HDD clean and re-installing the OS? If not, try that and start FS without any add-ons to check, if you can re-produce the issue. It somehow looks to me that it is a driver problem.Check your BIOS settings, check that you have the latest nVidia chipset drivers and drivers for you video board. Make sure that all cards are properly in the slots. Make sure that all fans are functioning to ensure that nothing is overheating. I somehow doubt that it is a hardware problem. Why do you need a "PC-Builder" anyway and need to drive 200m to the supplier, when you can get everything online for (probably) a lot less? Certainly, I like to install my OS and drivers myself to make sure that everything is right.
October 22, 200520 yr Rex: I have almost the same set up as you, except that I have only one GeForce 6800 Ultra. First, I have read on other forums that SLI actually has a negative impact on FS9 as it is not coded for SLI. That's why I bought only the one card, but prepared to get another if FS?? will be coded for it. I have the same MB, RAM and CPU as you. I was having terrible luck with finding a graphics driver that would run FS9 and Call of Duty. It seemed it would be one or the other but not both. Finally, I found the NForce 7777 driver and that did the trick for me. You may want to try this driver out for yourself befor doing anything more drastic. Just be sure that you clean all previous driver files out before you install the 7777 drivers. Hope this may be of some help. It sure solved my problems, which included similar display problems to yours, as well as some weird artifacts and partial texture color loses while panning in VC as well as outside the AC.Dave
October 23, 200520 yr Hi To you both.Thank you for replying to me. The reason I need to go 200 miles is due to my hands being useless due to athritis, and there are physical tests that need to be carried out in the tower and this company offerd to try to sort the problem for nothing.I have been trying to sort this sli problem out since Febuary this year with the help of this forum and others, this is my second sli pc.Most people seem to agree that it is a problem with sli and fs9. Microsoft say that if you update to fs9.1 it should help but it makes no difference. I tried the nforce drivers but it makes no difference. The Technical suport dept. of the suppliers of my hardware, also thinks it is a sli,FS9 conflic. But I may have a MOBO fault. If they sort it out I will post the result. If not I will play CFS3 until the new Flight sim comes out.Thank you both very much. All the best.Rex.
