October 29, 200520 yr I am hopeing that someone will be able to help me with a little problem.I have just upgraded my motherboard and Harddrive. After about 10/15min my framerates drop suddenly to 5/6 FPS from 25FPSIf I quit out of flightsim and reload they still stay low, I have to reboot my system to get the faster framerates again It seems that my CPU is loading up somehow ?? I have a fresh install of XPHome with SP2 installed, fresh install of FS9 (patched)My motherboard is a Foxconn 661FX7Mf-S with 1024 ram installed ,P4 3.2Not sure what version Chipset drivers ??. My graphics card is a Geforce 6600GT running 81.85 drivers (although I have tried previous versions to know avail)and I have directx 9.0c installed. My motherboard has an onboard soundcard(Realtek AC97 which I have tried it disabled)This problem was quite intermittant but now it occurs quite reguarly. It occurs on any of my 3rd party aircraft Pmdg,Captain Sim ,LDS etcHas anybody got any clues as to what I need to do to trace this problem.Thanking you in advanceSimon Ward
October 29, 200520 yr One thing to look at is your Page file and memory settings. Check to see if your virtual memory settings are set to "system managed size". Also make sure the proper Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility is installed if your MB is supported by Intel. Did you also run "dxdiag" to make sure there are no problems with your soundcard, vidio card installations?Hope this helps.Jim
October 29, 200520 yr Thanks for your help JimI have checked my Virtual Mem settings and they are set to system managed size I have run dxdiag and it reported no problems. It seems like that I have a driver issue with my motherboard or a crook motherboard.I downloaded the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and installed, do I have to download drivers as well ??Thanks in advanceSimon Ward
October 31, 200520 yr "I downloaded the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and installed, do I have to download drivers as well ??"No, that should do it. There's also an Intel Application Accelerator program but don't believe that can be installed with some newer boards. (At least it won't work with my Intel MB).Have you also tried renaming your FS9.cfg (to fs9.orig) and then restarted FS9 and letting FS9 rebuild the config? Also, I suffered a major slowdown after shuffling scenery in my Scenery Library. I moved Ultimate Terrain all the way down to the bottom of the Scenery Library as recommended by a fellow simmer. It took over 5 minutes to startup FS9 and, once loaded, the FPS went from 40-50 FPS to less than 10 plus ground textures would not render for over 3 minutes. So if you have been moving things around in your scenery.cfg (Scenery Library), or scenery.cfg is "corrupt" (Areas/Layers not in numerical order or duplicated), then this could also be causing the problem. In addition, try manually reinstalling your video drivers. Don't uninstall. Just go into the System Hardware and click on Display Adaptors, click on upgrade, and follow the wizard to let you decide where the appropriate .inf file is located. Then goto your video card driver directory and reinstall. I have had several instances wherein my drivers were not properly installed (ATI card) and, after a manual install, my FPS increased dramatically.Hope this helps.Jim
