October 30, 200520 yr I finally have found a way to get good performance from FS9 on my mid-range system. And also here's a very important FIX for users of older Radeon video cards. Here is what I am running:Dell Dimension 2400Celeron 2.4 GigATI Radeon 9250 PCI Video 256MB (no AGP slot in MoBo)Onboard soundNo addonsWith AI traffic at 100% (yup, 100%) and PAI traffic installed I get frame rates in at least the high teens at all but the busiest airports. At KORD or KDFW or one of those very busy ones my FR does dip below 10 with AI traffic in view, especially with some clouds. A little trick I learned is to keep AI at 100% but uncheck general aviation at these very busy airports (who needs Cessnas running around at O'Hare?). This gives me another 3-5 FPS. Most of my sliders are middle to right, execpt that I keep the clouds conservative. In the air I get 50-70 FPS if I unlock, even with a bit of cloud. In heavy clouds I get 25-30 FPS.Here is an important FIX for Radeon users who are missing fog and haze textures. If the wx appears clear when you know it should be foggy and the horizon just doesn't look right, try this:Add the line TableFog=0 in your FS9.cfg file under your video card's entry. Also add TableFog=0 to your display.cfg file in the ATI "Radeon Win2k/XP" section under BOTH the lines "Disable=1" and "Disable=2." Bingo, I gor fog and haze and seemingly better FPS. My ATI Radeon Win2k/XP section now looks like this:;----------------------------------------------------------------------; ATI Radeon Win2k/XP;----------------------------------------------------------------------[ati2dvag.dll]Disable=1TableFog=0PanelAsTexture=0AntiAlias=0[ati2dvag.dll.1]MinDriverRev=5.13.01.3102Disable=2TableFog=0[ati2dvag.dll.2]MinDriverRev=6.14.0001.6307PanelAsTexture=2Andy
