November 2, 200520 yr Hi all, I wanna pick all you hardware guru's brains...I've been running fine for a good while, using my fairly cheap junk. I'm running a cheap fx-5200-128 on a P4clocked at 3 ghz. Normally, I usually run in the 20's, and out in the boonies, almost always peg the 30 mark, which is what I set the limit at. When I started my startup flight, I would usually do about 28 fps, atthe large airport I started at. Good nuff for me...Ok...The deal... I had a HD crash a few days ago.Not my boot drive, but the drive I had my sim , rivatuner, etc, on... No real biggie...I go to the store, get a new drive and plop it in. Reinstalled the sim, patches, etc..At first I thought all was normal, but then I noticed my FS was down a bit. Running about 20 fps, instead of the usual 28 or so at start, in full screen. Humm...I tried reloading the drivers. No change. I have since tried reinstalling DX9c, not once, but twice. I reinstalled windows files over my present...I've tried reinstalling various versions on forcewaredrivers... I used an older set before, with no problems. With some testing, I noticed that my windowed view was actually faster than full screen. Used to be, the fullscreen was slightly faster than the windowed...Sooo...I even tried reinstalling my intel chipset drivers..When I go to DX diag, I show all fuctions supposably working.IE: the three "accelleration" buttons show "on" and working..But...I then noticed that when I disable 3D accelleration, I got no change in frame rate... Not right...So then, I tried running the little tests in DX diag...It's weird...When I disable all accelleration, I get all the tests running normal. IE: the directdraw tests work equally well in windowed test, and then in full screen. But...If I turn on accelleration, the windowed directdrawtest is ok, and is faster, but then the full screen directdrawtest is super slow, but looks normal otherwise. I seem to have lost my full screen accelleration...BTW...All three "3d" tests using the various dx versions works normal. The cube spins ok, etc, on all three tests. It's the direct draw that has flaked out. Anyone seen this before? I've tried reinstalling, checking everything I can think of, and I'm starting to wonder if the vid card itself is flaking out. Sorry about the novel, but takes a while to get enough infoso you all can get the picture about the problem....BTW, I've doubled checked all BIOS settings, and all seem normal, and the same it ever was...Any ideas? Or has my vid card toasted itself? I do O/C it, and run it fairly hard, but never any problems so far..I've never exceeded the rivatuners tested speeds, etc...If this card is toast, and not a software problem, I'm gonna get a better card.. It's normal, except in full screen.Weird it is...MK Mark Keith
