BFG GeForce 6200 OC 256MB DDR AGP, worth it?

Featured Replies

Hey all. Quick question. Right now i'm running a 1.8ghz pentium 4 processor 768mb of ram, and as of now a nvidia mx2 64mb video card, dell dimension 4500, with a 250watt power supply. When in flight sim witht the card now i've almost supprisingly maxed out all my slidders and get around 7 frames a second, but i can't tell the difference if it was 7 becasue it looked good to me. I was flying a freeware pc-12. Then when I switched to my PMDG 737 I could tell I was lagging. My question is would the geforce 6200 oc help me out. Getting a new computer is not an option till next year. Also could I even run that card with my system. Thanks for all help.

The biggest weakness of your setup is the CPU. FS9 is very CPU intensive, so I doubt that you would see a lot of improvement by upgrading your graphic board - maybe a few fps, but the difference will not be dramatic. With that setup, you simply have to sacrife some quality to achieve some decent (20-30fps) frame rates.I have an AMD 3200+ with a Geforce 6600 GT and get a good 30fps with most (not all sliders) maxed.Good luck!Pat

Thanks for the help. I guess i'll just have to wait for better stuff until next year. Then I should have enough for a good AMD computer with all the bells and whistles of a custom computer.
