November 25, 200520 yr Hi all!I have an on-board sound card in my ASUS K8V SE-X, and would like to know if I'll notice any change in performance if I install an off-board card, like a Creative Sound Blaster one, for ex.Also, I'm looking to buy a 160GB HD ???RPM and place my FS9 in it. I would leave the old one for my C: files and stuff. Would you think this could help me out in squeezing a bit more FPS out of my sim???Thanks and regards,Lucas.

I had major FPS problems with my rig and I just upgraded to a SB card and so far it has no or very minor FPS impact and i'm able to play the sound from FS9 in full 5.1 because of the EX features which allows 2 channel sound to be played on a 5.1 speaker system. Example of the FPS increase was were I was getting only 15 fps im now getting 25-30 FPS with no shutters, huge difference. November 26, 200520 yr Would you think this could help me out in squeezing a bit more FPS out of my sim???Sound cards can vary per performance. IE: usually outboardworks better then on board. Changing drives will have no effect on frame rate. Possibly file loading could be improved by faster drives, larger cache, etc, but don't expect too much. Probably will be mostly unnoticable. I've been swapping a few driveslately. I was on a small 6.8 gig when I first started fs9.Lately, I upgraded to a 80 gig with 2m cache. Hardly can tell anydifference in performance. I bought another 160 gig 8m cachedrive last weekend, but it's still sitting on my desk in the box... I may try it later, but I doubt I will notice much change going from a 2m cache drive to a 8m cache drive. Both are 7200 rpm. I considereda SATA drive, but at the last minute I decided to go ahead and getthe standard ATA drives. That way, I know I can run them in mostany box, if needed. MK Mark Keith
