Please, no more splash screens (flame, flame ...)

OK, neck on the block here. Please, please, can we find somewhere else for splash screens other than in the Avsim library of new FS2002 files? The Avsim Screenshots Forum is a big enough ego trip, surely. That, for the most part, seems to be populated by keen young chaps/chapesses with little else to do but try to impress all by demonstrating that they have more up-to-the-minute knowledge, or better computers, than the rest of us; but the arrogance of the splash screen maker is amazing to me. Yeah, I know, it's art, not everyone paints 'planes, that's their thing so don't knock 'em ... but do they really think we don't have the odd Boeing in our own collection? Come on. Yet another heavy pulling out of some nondescript airport is not my idea of room furniture. When I look at files that have taken yonks to produce being shuffled quickly in the direction of the archives by these things, it makes me weep. Who needs 'em?Okay, have your say.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontP.S. Yes, I have bad days occasionally, LOL.http://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo2.jpg

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid your point eludes me.

Hi,I happen to like looking at the Screen Shot forum its a great way for painters to preview their work and you can check out what other simmers are up to.Am I the only one?

Hi Mark,I understand what your saying BUT one mans meat is another mans poison.I for one can't stand WANDING through the deluge of 777,747,airbus repaints, but I do, the same with splash screens. On average it only takes my 10 minutes tops to go through the new files (through the countless heavy metal avaliable) so I am not that worried.I have noticed that people have started packaging splash screens with new plane downloads, maybe thats a way to go?.Dan.

I have done a couple for my colleagues that portray other then just the planes I fly. Not everyone knows how to do splash screens and welcomes them. Gives variety when you fire up the ol' sim. I have received a number of emails thanking me for them. So there are those that still want them. Also, look at the d/l counts and see just how many people are getting them. The numbers are not as high as aircraft and scenery but being loaded all the same by people.BTW, here is one of mine:http://library.avsim.com/sendfile.php?SendImage=17645http://www3.telus.net/dport1/Radar_small.gifRC3 - Just gotta' have it!http://www3.telus.net/dport1/Radar_small.gifhttp://www3.telus.net/dport1/dansig.jpg
