January 4, 200620 yr Hi.Recently, I have reverted to Windows XP and 1Gb from x64 and 2gb.This is because I decided I wanted to use the Garmin GPS systems and a friend of mine needed some RAM which I sold to him.I have also taken fs9 off my Raptor and put it with everything else on a 400gb RAID 0 array.Since I have done all this, I have not been happy with my scenery texture loading times. My frame rates are excellent. My spec is:AMD Athlon 64 3800+2x512mb PC32001x WD Raptor 36Gb 10k RPM2x WD Caviar 200Gb 7.2k RPMRadeon X800xl 256Mb GDDR3Audigy2 ZSWhat happens now is the scenery textures don't seem to come into focus as quickly as they used to. Sometimes they don't come back into focus at all.I have a well tweaked FS9.CFG so I don't think this is the culprit. Now I really that this is probably due to reverting to XP from x64 but I'd be willing to go back to 2gb if you guys thought it necessary. However, I'm going to go back to x64 anyway as XP seems much less enjoyable to use. It just feels "rough" and not as responsive. Also, I don't believe that the Garmin trainer should hold me back from x64 so I'm going to live without it.So, the bottom line is this: How should I set up my rig for FS9?Specifically:1. Which disk should the OS go on?2. Should I get a cheap disk to put x64 on thus freeing up the Raptor for scenery for instance?3. Should I RAID 0 the 200gb drives and run FS9 from it?4. Where should I put the swap file(s)?5. Should I keep x64 separate from FS9 and the scenery separate from both? Please give me some suggestions as to how to make the most of my rig.For instance:200gb : x64200gb : FS9 and addons36gb : Sceneryor:36gb : OS, FS9 and addons400Gb array : Sceneryor:"Your suggestion here"Hopefully though, reverting to x64 should put things back to normal. Thanks very much.
