January 5, 200620 yr i have been trying to deal with this for a long time, but I havne't gotten anywhere still. let's see if i can explain it well.in FS9, when my view is perfectly parallel to the ground, i get great picture quality. if my view tilts slightly, distant object become jagged-edged and it is VERY distracting. I really can't remember exactly when this all started, but i seem to remember it not always being like this. i always try to keep up with the very latest drivers for my video card, and have tried Omega drivers, and the ATI drivers. I have tried old drivers that i thought worked better and the new ones. nothing will change this problem. i have attached some pictures to demonstrate and my system specs and settings. Here is a picture when the eye is parallel with the plane of the ground:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/137913.jpgHere is a picture when looking out of the cockpit of the 182, and the cockpit tilts slightly back:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/137915.jpgand here is a shot looking at KSFO (FlyTampa) and hopefully showing you the distracting jaggies:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/137916.jpghere are my system specs:P4 2.8Ghz HTIntel 865GBF MB1024MB DDR3200 RamATI Radeon 9800XT (the real thing)Radeon Omega Drivers 2.6.87 (Catalyst 5.12)Here are the D3D settings:AA:6xAAF:16x qualityTexture: high qualityMipMaps: high qualityVertical Sync: always onCatalyst AI: lowSo, any ideas? I have tried everything.i assumed that it was an anisotropic filtering or a mipmap problem, but nothing dealing with those settings has done anything. and NO, i don't have AA enabled in FS9, either. lol
January 6, 200620 yr You've got some seriously ugly mojo going on there, Preston.First thing you should do is clean the registry using Drivercleaner Pro. If you've had an nVidia VC installed in that system in the past then certainly clean the registry of nVidia drivers as well. Be sure to follow the cleaning instructions in the DC Pro Readme carefully. Clean away the ATI drivers, WDM drivers (if installed... you'll have to head over to the ATI site to download them for reinstall), and ATI uninstall utility. Then reinstall the Omega's. After reinstalling check DXDiag to make certain all hardware acceleration is working properly. For configuring the drivers on your system I recommend the following as a starting point:AA: 4X (use the ATI Tray Tools to enable Adaptive AA as well)AF: 16X Quality with Trilinear (in ATI Tray Tools)Texture and Mips: QualityVertical Sync: Application PreferenceCatalyst A.I. Off (this will force AF to do the Quality w/Trilinear. Once you get the problem sorted you can try Cat A.I. again.)On the display page of the sim make sure that AA is unchecked and that "Filtering" is set to Trilinear.Hope this helps,Greg
