Sidewinder Joystick problem

Featured Replies

I have a 5yr old 1GHz PC with Windows ME which is used as a general purpose computer and for Flight Sim with FS98, FS2000 and Combat Flight Sim. I use a Microsoft Precision Sidewinder 4.0 joystick.Last month I treated myself to a new faster, more powerful PC with Windows XP and have installed FS2004.I want to retain my old computer for word processing, e-mail, internet and other general purpose uses and, by way of a KVM data switch box system, to use my new computer for primarily Flight Sim and other games. I have installed FS2000 and the Sidewinder joystick into my new computer and am in the process of selecting and transferring some of the numerous add-ons accumulated over the years. My problem is this. For some reason, I cannot get the Sidewinder joy-stick to work in both old and new computers in respect of FS2000. The joystick performs perfectly in my old computer for FS98 and Combat Flight Sim, and in my new computer for FS2004.I have gone through all test routines and tried re-installation of the Sidewinder but to no avail. I cannot get the joystick to work in either computer for FS2000. Can anyone help, please? Thanks, gpry

How old is the joystick?1st Gen Sidewinders don't work with XP, and since there's no longer any support, all of those folks with old joysticks are SOL and will have to upgrade.I know, because I had to toss my old Force Feedback.-----------------------------------------Sergey Kireyevhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_pf.jpg
