February 5, 200620 yr I just picked up this video card , I just updated from a Radeon 9550 256. I see a huge improvement just in FPS with default settings. I'm running a 2.8 P4 with HT , 2 gig 2700 DDR ram , and the new vid card and getting FPS around 23 steady. At some of my add on airports I get around 10 -12 which is still better then the 4 or 5 I would get. I would highly recommend this video card if you can not upgrade to 1800 pro or others that can run you 300-650 dollars . I paid 179 for this one but you can find it for 150.00 here is a link to the card, its a great buy. http://www.ati.com/products/RadeonX1300/Products.htmlThe video card is offered as PCI express or AGP confrigurations
February 15, 200620 yr I too picked up the X1300 Pro the other day. I am however having problems with the quality of graphics in FS2004. I have tried various configurations both in the game and out. Nothing seems to really help. I would have to say that the biggest problem I can see is with Anti-Alaising (AA). The AA seems to be perfect if you are looking at something up close, but when you move to a greater distance, it degrades rapidly. Along with that, I seem to have a some-what blurry look to my panels. I am running the ATI Catalyst Control Center (version 6.2) right now. I have read other posts in the forums here and alot of people recommend dumping ATI CCC and going with the Catalyst 5.1 drivers and ATI Tray Tool. Another post recommended some DNA-ATI drivers instead of Omega drivers. I was going to try those also to see if they help any. If you could, please pass on how your graphics are doing and what settings you have for both the ATI CCC and inside the game. My signature below has the specs of my system.
March 1, 200620 yr Good afternoon Gentlemen,I did the same too. I junk my 6 mos. old computer and changed it last Jan. to P4 3.4 GHZ INTEL 945 i_DNA Extreme Edition; DDR2 3GB RAM; ATI X1300 PRO 512MB; SATA RAID; 19" Monitor. Although there's an improvement but not what I expect. I think we already reached the maximum limit for FS2004. I decided to hang around for the FSX. Why?The 2 yr. old computer that I gave to my son and he still using it now is "P4 3.0 GHZ GBF, 2GB RAM DDR400; ATI 9250 AGP 256 MB; 17" LCD is doing great for FS2002 with many add-ons scenery. It is not our hardware anymore. Obvously, we will no longer be happy to play FS2000 when we got FS9. For me investing more to improve FS2004 performance is already a waste now.Regards,
