Help FS9 is freezing my machine.

Featured Replies

Hi all,I have FS9 running on my AMD machine for about 2 years now. Here is the spec for the machine.AMD xp 3200+. BFG 6800GT, 1 GByte of DDR RAM. Win2K sp4.FS9 is the only game I installed on this machine. I also have UT USA, AS5, and a few addon planes. The most recent install is Manhattan Scenery from Aerosoft, and that was about a month ago. Starting 2 weeks ago, I have this strange issue that when flying, the simulation will pause for 5 or 6 seconds every 30 to 60 seconds, and the FS9 pauses, the sound goes repeating. Then, my USB joystick disapear from FS9. Now, instead of those 6 seconds pauses every now an then, the system just freezes. Anyone had this experience before? Thnx.

This is more often than not a heat related issue. If you've not cleaned out your case now is the time. Pay particular attention around the CPU cooler (need to remove the dust from between the cooling fins). Those cans of compressed air work quite well (might take a couple of them if you've not cleaned out your case in a while). When blasting around any fan make sure not to let the blade turn.Hope this helps,Greg

Are you sure it is heat related? The CPU is only 43 degree C when running FS9. I got that from the utitlity for my mother board. I don't know, my graphics card comes overclocked out of the box. Hope that is that the issue.
