March 22, 200620 yr I've read enough about FS9 speed, that I have gathered that the only effective enhancement to speed up the program after tweaks, etc. is to speed up the CPU. I have an Intel HT 2.8GHZ on an 800MHz BUS ASUTek Mother Board. I could upgrade to a 3.2GHz. I don't know if anything else is possible with this MOBO. I already have 1.5GB or RAM (came with the computer, Sony PCVRZ30CG). Is there any noticeable improvement using this approach or should I just wait and eventually buy another computer in a year or so, expecially with Vista looming on the horizon? Thanks,Bruce
March 22, 200620 yr overclock that cpu you have now. it should overclock well to at least 3.2 or 3.3. i did that with my 2.6 when i had it and i noticed a performance increase
March 22, 200620 yr >overclock that cpu you have now. it should overclock well to>at least 3.2 or 3.3. i did that with my 2.6 when i had it and>i noticed a performance increaseI will wait to hear if others have thoughts on this, and I do note now that Vista is delayed until 2007. May I ask you some questions, please?1) Where do I find a guide regarding how to overclock the CPU.2) Do I need to make changes in the cooling system on the MoBo to handle the overclocked processor?3) It sounds like you had no problem doing this. With my particular processor, and MoBo, am I at risk of damaging my system? I'm guessing that the system can handle it since they were selling the same computer with a 3.0MHz processor when I first bought it, but I wanted to save money and bought the 2.8 instead.4) Is the jump from 2.8 to 3.2 or 3.3 as noticeable as the jump from 2.6 to 3.2 or 3.3?Sorry for all the questions, but I know nothing about the techniques of overclocking other than that it can be risky if done inappropriately. Thanks very much,Bruce
