Multiple monitors question

Featured Replies

How to set up a 2nd monitor? I know "how", in my catalyst CC, but I have seen couple of problems.Drop in framerates. A very big one, from 40fps down to 25. I tried putting an overhead panel from the PMDG 747 on the upper display and that's what I got. Even without overhead panel, I get low FPS. Any way of keeping the FPS, since on the 2nd display, I only need 2D. And is there a way that I set up the monitor ABOVE the main monitor? So that I don't have to go down or left with the mouse to access my 2nd monitor, but go actually UP where it's located???Help is appreciated!Word Not Allowed

Hi,Your FPS should be good with that card. All system drivers up to date?Go to the display properties/settings where you see the 2 monitors and drag #2 where you want it to be.Edit: Turn down your AA and AF and see what happens.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

FPS are good with one monitor. With the 2nd attached, they drop. Any way of turning of 3D acceleration on the 2nd monitor? Recommended? Thanks for the dragging tip, that's a good one :)My AA/AF were at 4/2 for the test, fps have the same drop.

I don't know if this does any good but I turn down everything possible on the two monitors that I use for panels only. No T&L, no bilinear or trilinear filtering, MIPs set to zero (0), and 16-bit color depth. My third monitor is used for the 3d windscreen view only and it has all those items enabled (bilinear, MIPs=4) and uses 32-bit colors but I have the resolution set to 800x600; no instrument panel, no need for extreme detail. The only feature that I'm certain is making a difference in frames is the lower resolution for the outside view; that makes a whale of a difference. The other things may or may not help but they make me feel better. And here's more to consider. In February, I got a new computer. On the old computer, I got better FR in fullscreen mode. With the new system I get best FR in Windowed mode and with this line added into my [DISPLAY.Device . . .] sections of my FS9.cfg file:PanelAsTexture=0You might want to expereiment with these things. Hi,This helped a while back with older hardware. Go to that same Display Properties/Settings screen. Highlight monitor #2. Click on Advanced and then the Troubleshoot tab. There should be a slider to adjust the level of hardware acceleration.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
