SOS - EVGA 7800 GS - AA ISSUE

Featured Replies

I just upgraded to this New card as I have been an ATI man since FS2002.I love the performance gain over my 9800 256 Pro,but I am having some serious issues with FS when AA is enabled. The screen will black out in sections where I am using the module ADV Display for RC 4.0, or just clicking with the mouse in an area. I have used a few different drivers and I am now using from 3D Guru the NGO optomized driver 84.56.What I have done so far is disabled the AA and am using application controlled, and am leaving the AF @ 8X.Is this an issue that is apparent with AGP or is this more widespread ?How can I resolve this either with some other driver or a known fix.Is it ok to use AF without AA ??? Thanks in Advance for your help.Andy

Thanks in Advance for your>help.>>AndyAndy, There is no problem using Af without AA except that there really is no point as AF is a filter to aid degredation of the mips when AA is on.Have you tried making sure you have AA turned off in the FS9/display/Hardware/settings and then adjust AA in your windows video driver tab, also try the different types, i.e., 4xs and 8xs are super sample and will slightly AA alphas a bit, but since you have a 7800 you could try just 4xAA at higher res and make sure you have transparency AA on or any other combo to see if that will get you going. My setting are 1600x1200 8xsAA/16xAF with Trasparency SxAA and GamaxAA And I just love it, rock solid 40-60FPS flying a CS727 around MegaCity Sanfran, I do however have a blank Aircraft Menu box where the aircraft is suposed be showing. Hopfully another driver set that supports 7900 AGP cards more fully...

Andy,What Paul said, and here's a pretty good article, [a href=http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_1.html]nForce tweaks[/a].jbDell XPS 600 XPPro SP2Pentium D 955EE 3.46MHz Dual Core/HT FSB @ 1066MHz 2x2MB Cache2x1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 @ 667 MHzEVGA e-GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB GDDR3 PCIe x16Dell 2007FP 20" (makes the sim brand new :-))

TY for your replies but to no avail.I have tried numerous settings and I cannot get this to work unless AA is off in winows and on in the FS.My max res BTW is 1280x1024.I am going to try some older drivers maybe in the later 7X.XX batch.I am using the F1 MD as my test bed.ThanksAndy

I finally found a solution "I THINK" ....I downloaded the 84.21 driver from NviDia and all is working using AA4X and AF8X.The funny thing is that I installed the driver that came with the card from EvGA and I had 2 CTD and a system lockup using their driver and I believe it was 84.21.I for the life of me cannot figure out how these drivers can be so different at the same rev.Andy

Andy,>>I for the life of me cannot figure out how these drivers can be so different at the same rev.<

I have to retract my earler excitement..The driver did indeed fail and the culprit is the ADVDISP I need for RC4.I am back using the optomized 84.56 but I have AA and AF off and am using the AA in the fs.I am extremely disappointed as of now but I am going to post over the RC forum for some help.ThanksAndy

Your 2 cents makes a lot of sense but it is unfortunate to have this nagging issue.Andy

Andy,All I can say is that I sympathize. That killer new box I've got tends to do things that uhhmm, how should I phrase this in a family forum, oh, ANNOY THE LIVING ************** uhmmm, stuff outa me. I mean, I generally leave the various boxes on 24/7, reboot ~every 3 days, that's when XP gets tired of the incessant memory leaks . The new one seems to have some sort of AI...it dreams up new 'YOU CAN'T BOOT' scenarios on a daily basis ;-)Bottom line though, if something gets outa line software wise, it's history. I really do hope you get it sorted...flying the sim for me is that short period of time in a day when every cranky customer/creditor/general miscreant goes away...just me, a fast machine, the best efforts of some pretty bright engineers @ MS, and a McDonald's right down the block ;-)Best,jb

Well I can really really say I resolved this issue.I updated my FSUIPC to 3.6 and removed the ADVDISPLAY module. The new FSUIPC has a feature to display multiline messages that work with RC4 and the best is I figured out how to toggle it on and off.I have no more issues and the optomized driver and new card work great.ThanksAndy

Andy,In a *really* long day of listening to a lawyer and ****** CPA type tell me my new business venture will fail, your good news as regards getting your stuff to play nice restores my faith in, hmmm, something . Glad you got it sorted out.

Good to hear Andy, Thanks for posting your results.
