June 15, 200619 yr Hi all,I would like to upgrade my video card to an ATI9600XT 256mb. My computer specs are the following:[red]AMD Athlon XP 2600+KT600-A Mother Board1.91Ghz1Gb RAMNVIDIA GForce4 MX 440 64MBWin XP SP2[/red]At the moment on FS2004 with all settings almost set to hight detail except the terrain distance, I get an average of 15fps with the lowest 12fps. The FPS are locked at 20FPS. My AA is set from my video card and is set to x2Q. I can increase it and it looks fantastic but the fps drops to 5fps.I would like to know if the ATI9600XT 256mb Video card works with my mother board having an AGP1 slot and if it might work, would I improve in AA and get a few more FPS?I know my bottle neck is the CPU and FSB but would in't it increase just by 5 to 10fps and maybe i get some smooth lines? In the below pictures you can clearly see the gittered lines of the aircarft.Below are the kind of Graphics i'm getting[br]RegardsMauro
June 16, 200619 yr On an Abit nforce2 motherboard with AMD XP3000+ CPU,and an Abit 9600XT VIO w/256mb, I can run FS at 1280x1024 with 4x AA/8xAF and maintain a steady 30fps (locked at 30); of course this will drop depending on the amount of AI traffic present in the area, and the complexity of the airport. Flying straight out of Seattle in the default Cessna, with Dense autogen settings, massive textures, etc, and with a full compliment of Project AI, and several WoAI traffic packs installed, set at 70%, medium clouds and 30 miles visibility, I will get 30fps in the air, 24 on the runway looking past the terminals, and with the AI doing it's thing!!The 9600XT may not be the latest and greatest, but it is certainly well up to running FS9 quickly and smoothly, with great visuals! One nice benefit, I assume from the 256mb DDR, is that side views are instantaneous; on other, and faster cards that I have tried/owned, there has always been a 2-3 second lag before the side views can be seen, and textures could take several more seconds before they were fully in place; not so with this card! They're there immediately as I look left or right!Current pricing (I found this Abit for
