OT-Router Problems

Featured Replies

Guys-I have a Linksys BEFW11s4 wireless B router and it's going out on my I believe. Before ordering a new one, let me explain. It will connect via my cable modem to the 'net for a few minutes, hours, or just seconds but eventually it will cause the connections to time out. The solution is to unplug the power supply from the unit and wait a few seconds before plugging it back in, and then it works again until repeating the whole process over again.Any suggestions?thanks!

I would first check with your internet provider just to make sure that they are not having any system wide issues. If that checks out ok I would say it might be time for replacement. It could be that your NIC card is timing out or shutting down. You could buy a new nic card and see if it still does it. If that is not the issue, you can always return it and its a lot cheaper than replacing the modemMike

Have you tried plugging the cable MODEM directly into one PC? If you can maintain a connection that way then it's probably the router. R-BTW -- If you have never done this before, then be advised that you may have to reboot the MODEM after connecting it to the PC (unplug the MODEM for a minute or so then plug it in again). After you reconnerct it to the router, reboot it again. R-
