Ram

Featured Replies

When FS starts up some random times it gives me a not enough memory message, I have 1420000 k available before starting fs, how could this be???? Ugh computers....

RAM, like harddisk space, can get fragmented over time. When an application cannot then get a single chunk large enough for it needs it will fail.As FS requires some fairly large contiguous chunks of RAM it's more prone to that than many applications.Often it helps to start and stop some small applications, that will give Windows cues to defragment memory.

Several possible causes:1: Fragmented memory. Solve as advised2: A `memory leak` in FS, usually caused by an addon or scenery package. Check you don't have a Texture folder associated with a scenery folder that contains only landclass, or uninstall add-ons one at a time until you find the culprit3: A corrupted Paging File. If you search the forums you will find links or details on how to delete the old and create a new one. The important bit is to defrag between.4: A system resources issue when you try and load too many programs at once - this can happen if you load FS with an aftermarket aircraft that has an association with another program. Cure: Load FS with a default plane at a default airport, THEN switch.5: Dodgy RAM. Use a freeware RAM test program to check that your RAM is working correctly.HTH.Allcott
