August 24, 200619 yr HiIve read (forum search) alot about CTD's here at AVSIMWhen I get a CTD (black screen, can move the mouse, somtimes cause reboot) I always get the same error message......C:Documents and SettingsMy NameApplication DataMicrosoftFS9CFG.TXTC:Documents and SettingsMy NameApplication DataMicrosoftFS9dxdiag.xmlC:Documents and SettingsMy NameApplication DataMicrosoftFS9scenery.cfgCTD's happen at random anywhere (sometimes cant even get off the runway), anytime regardles of weather, viewStarting to drive me nuts as happens vitually with every flight...I am at a loss at what I can do next.....I have...run ScanAFD...got rid of dupesEven with zero traffic..still get CTDRebuilt FS9.cfg several times...no joy thereReinstalled FS9 with patch..twice...no joyRan CHKDSK /FRan DXDIAGRan a registry cleanerCannot disable video caching or shadowing in the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS)..m/b does not seem to support itMy systemP4 2.66 CPUNvidea 5700 GeForce FX vid card...71.89 (driver) any other driver that Ive tried causes that awful flashing with menus1 G ramAsus P4S-GX mbhave installed FS9 patch long time agoRunning VOZ 1.21Andy Weirs terrain meshFSC 7.71Active Sky (latest edition)Traffic 2004Please help if you can, otherwise thats it...have to wait for FSXDavid
August 24, 200619 yr David,Check your scenery.cfg file and look for any possible corruption (i.e., areas/layers not in numerical order; missing numbers). ScanAFD may have gotten rid of duplicate sceneries and now a config file (aircraft.cfg/scenery.cfg) is calling for that scenery texture and it's not located in that folder anymore causing a crash. I think those files you are referencing (such as C:Documents and SettingsMy NameApplication DataMicrosoftFS9CFG.TXT) are the documents gathered up and sent to Microsoft for troubleshooting purposes. I don't recall anyone getting an error msg such as yours. Usually the error will reference a ".dll". Check your Event Viewer (if you haven't already) and look for causes of each crash.
