October 18, 200619 yr I am quite comfused and need helpwith optimizing my system to run FSX with max capabilities.the system contains the following:AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core processor 3800+(2.0GHz)DFI NF4 ULTRA INFINITYADATA DDR 1024MB 400MHZ CL3WD 80GB 7200RPM 8MB SATAIIGIGABYTE 7800GT 256MB PCI-e +ZALMAN COOLINGCOMPUCASE CI-6A19 BLACK NO PSUFSP 400W LGA775 24pin SATA 12cmI was thinking to add one more ADATA DDR 1024MB 400MHZ CL3 (to get a total of 2G memory)then add WD 10000RPM SATAII with ONLY FSX (any future addon possible here?)then define VM of constant 3G on the first WD HD (contains the XP)Is there anything more / else to do?CPU clocking issue?stronger power supply?PLEASE ADVISE
October 18, 200619 yr You will DEFINITELY want to upgrade the power supply. 400w is marginal and wit FSX pulling all the resources it can find the power musty be close to the max that PSU can supply. At least 550w, would be my recommendation.I think more RAM woud be a good thing. A dedicated 10,000rpm drive will also help in the loadup times with FSX, but I'm not sure you'd notice much difference in-game, where it's only a small bottleneck compared to everything else, but it coulnd't hurt and will stand you well for future upgrades. Allcott
