8800gts in the house

Featured Replies

Bought an 8800gts today at microcenter and man i can tell you these things are amazing. I had a highly o/c'd 7900gt before and this thing is just SICK fast compared to it. My FEAR benchmarks went up about 60-70% and NFS Most Wanted i can run with all the eye candy turned up as far as it goes with smooth frame rates. I don't have FSX installed yet (bought it today too) but FS9 and the flightscenery Portland is just amazing with this card. It didn't improve the frame rate any but it just made the entire thing 3x smoother and this is with 4x AA and 8x AF on. The visual quality that this card produces is just so much better than the 7900gt. I couldn't really run at more than 4x AA or AF without serious frame rate drops. I swear this thing runs better the more you turn up the sliders. I am installing FSX now and don't expect it to give me a boost in fps, but I am hoping that it smooths the experience out while allowing me to run high levels of AA and AF. In the 20 mins that I flew the chopper in FS9 I got no blurries at all. Still too early to tell if this card will improve or fix the blurries though. I am in the process of trying to procure the parts for a kentsfield setup so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will have a processor to properly run this card to its potential. Only downside I can see so far is that there is no way to o/c the card and no way to monitor the temperature. It says to install the ntune application to allow this but that app will only install on an nforce chipset motherboard so maybe there is something that I am missing? Good card and I thought I would let you all know!Dave
