November 18, 200619 yr I just installed 1 more Gb Geil PC3200 RAM. In Windows XP -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> ADVANCED -> PERFORMANCE/SETTINGS -> ADVANCED -> Virtual memory, I have CUSTOM SIZE selected. Seeing that I have 2 gb now, what should this be set too? 2000 or can I go higher? I realize that both numbers must be the same.ThxSystem Specs:P4 3.0SB LiveATI Radeon X800 GTO (256)2 Gig DDR RAM
November 18, 200619 yr Let Windows handle it. Fixed VM size becomes a moot point when RAM is increased beyond 1 gig.We have had this conversation so many times, and still we hear the old platitudes that were relevant for previous era operating systems but which were not true, not valid, and regurgitated cr&p when it came to XP.Allcott
November 18, 200619 yr Hello Allcott, As I know very little about this and was just experimenting, can you elaborate a little on why this manual setting of VM is not needed?thxTurnipSystem Specs:Motherboard = P5-GL-MXP4 3.0SB LiveATI Radeon X800 GTO (256) Overclocked to 550 Core / 525 Mem2 Gb Geil PC3200 Dual Channel RAM
