November 19, 200619 yr I recently renewed my license for Zone Alarm and received a free copy of something called "Ashampoo Magical Defrag". Roughly speeking it runs in the background and when you system is idle it starts to defrag then stops/pauses again when you start working again. When I installed it my disk was about ready for a defrag but this thing seems to be doing its job well leaving me with one less thing to do. It's using about 20MB of RAM on idle but I haven't noticed any change in PC Performance.http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend/products/...2&idstring=0044Anyone else tried it? Doing what it says on the box and I'm happy. $12.99Andrew Brown
November 19, 200619 yr In the field of computing, it's usually a very good idea to stay well away from anything badged as `magical` ;)Glad it works for you, but it looks from the website like a small step up from the basic defragger in Windows, rather than the much more sophisiticated utilities such as O & O Defrag, Diskeeper Pro and Ultimate Defragger with their customisable functions, some of whcih are the key to faster FS loading.Allcott
