December 23, 200619 yr I've got two Barracudas in my computer and since flight sims take up so much room I'm thinking of dedicating one of them just to flight sims and their scenery, add-ons, etc. Does anyone think this is a good idea? I keep my hard drives very clean and defragged so the files will be in good order whether FS in on my general drive or on one dedicated to FS. I'm just wondering if a separate drive would speed things up any. This idea was suggested to me by a Microsoft employee at the AOPA convention in Palm Springs recently. They had a demo booth for FS X. Actually, he suggested a complete dedicated computer just for flying, but in lieu of that, does a separate hard drive idea sound like a useful one? Thanks, Mike
December 23, 200619 yr I run all my games on a separate 500 GB SATA2 hard drive. Much better performance, and with the fast drive you are thinking about using, I would recommend it
December 24, 200619 yr Thanks for the response. I was thinking it made sense and your advice confirms it. Mike
December 24, 200619 yr Alex, What has happened to Avsim? Going to the ProPilot 99 forum, hardly anything except posts by one die-hard old regular who I remember from a long time ago. That's an obsolete sim, so maybe that's understandable. Going to X-Plane forum, the index says it has 418 topics, but when you go to look at a list of the topics there's NOTHING. Did Avsim have some major crash? And maybe it's because I use Firefox, but when I log on there is a screenfull of crap in huge fonts, while the listings for the forums are in tiny little letters. Is it just Firefox? Have I forgotten how to find things on Avsim? What's happened to this board. It looks like it got nuked.Have you been on Avsim for a while and do you know what's going on?Thanks, Mike
