January 20, 200719 yr I thought I had read-and paid attention-everything I could find running fs9 on an ati 9800pro and the dreaded "sparkles". I must have beensleeping because after much tweaking I could never fully rid myself of them until just the other day. MIP! Slide down to 6 and, instant photowonder! Boy do I feel dumb. This is with the followingconfig settings:MAX_BANDWIDTH_MULT=200TextureMaxLoad=10TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=5UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=22Addons:grassv1;fotoroad2;TaxiwayEnvmap;TreeGenv1;perfectwater;perfectsky.Looks and runs like I always thought it could/should.Athlon3200+512M cas29800Pro128 w/Omega 3.8.291WD Raptor
January 21, 200719 yr I have run FS9 with a Radeon 9800Pro since it came out and have never had a problem with "sparkles". I run full mips with no problems.
January 21, 200719 yr It's great that you found settings you like; I also have a 9800 Pro and I had a lot of texture shimmering (especially on city buildings) unless I reduced the mipmap slider to 4. That makes the terrain a bit blurry, but it's the only way I can get the buildings to render without shimmering, flickering, and aliasing, even when using the FSAA and aniso settings in the ATI drivers.
January 24, 200719 yr Freinds. I think you should be happy with your 9800 pro card.It is doing extremely well in fs9 and fsx at my place.(I'm running a His 9800 pro iceq, 1gb ram).Seen rigs with 2gb ram, video cards with 512mb, and they are not half the way up to mine. (med. tex, dence autog, 30%traff, 40% other). In my opinion, lock running programs, lock unneeded services, clean pc with a reg cleaner (ccleaner, regcleaner, regmech). clean junkfiles (fastcleaner), and then every week, defrag clean clean clean.......Be happy folks.
