Voice sound in vista

Featured Replies

Hello,I'm using vista 32bits with 2 soundcards, one onboard (realtek ALC882 on ASUS P5W HD) and a XFi creative PCI card. Working great, the 2 soundcards are recognized and working flawlessly. My problem is that in vista I can't manage to make them work as in XP where I could direct the sound for the voices to the headphones, the engine sounds being output to my speakers. My heaphones are plugged in the onboard soundcard. In XP, there were tabs where I could choose different soundcards and settings for the voice, recording, and other sounds. I can't find it in vista.I miss that functionality, since it was really handfull in multiplayer when some players have a very low mic level and thus difficult to understand. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help !Pierre.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried Googling and can't come up with anything. I think this one might need to be sent to Microsoft.~ Jim

Unfortunately, after extensive research on the internet, it seems to be related to the fact that directsound is not supported anymore in vista...a good explanation can be found here :http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/bo...message.id=1694or here :http://forums.tweakguides.com/showthread.php?t=5866I think the solution is now that sound redirection has to be handled by the applications, since it was directsound (via the HAL --> Hardware Abstraction Layer) that took care of it.Hope I'm wrong, but at this point, that's my understanding. The solution is maybe to send a mesage to tellFS which I'm going to do right now. Hopefuly, Mcrosoft is already aware.
