March 6, 200719 yr I have an AOpen XCube 2.8 GHz Celeron with 512 MB RAM, 80 GB harddrive, a NEC DVD RW type 4550, and an MSI GeForce FX card (I think 5800 or something like that, about 2,5 years old). I have windows XP SP2 installed, but I am unable to install FSX. My PC won't see the disk. I tried all teh suggestions with uninstalling burner programs etc, with no success.A friend of mine installed it successfully in one go on his HP machine, which is now 3 years old, and it runs ok.Why doesn't it install on my PC? Do I need a different DVD drive? Should I reset the DVD region to something different than it is now? What do I do to make this work? It must be a hardware compatibility problem, and I suspect my DVD drive. Can anyone please please please advice me which DVD drives will allow me to install FSX? I'm getting kinda desparate here, since no one seems to actually give me any advice or help on any of the forums I posted my problem. Please help a fellow simmer out...
March 7, 200719 yr Does your DVD drive read other DVD data disks or is it just the FSX disk it won't read?RegardsJim
March 8, 200719 yr Hi Jim,Yes, my DVD drive works fine with every single other DVD, CD or optical medium I insert. It reads and writes all perfectly fine, but does not read the FSX disk... After half an hour I get a message "disk cannot be read. Disk is either corrupted or in a format not recognised by windows". A friend of mine tried to install it on his PC. No problem, went like a charm he said. But he didn't want to lend me his DVD drive. I'm hesitant to buy new kit, as I don't know if that will solve my poblem...
