20 FPS max in FS2K4

Featured Replies

I recently had to reformat and reload all my software. I get a max of 20fps which drops to about 5 when take off roll starts. I have the old image on a second drive. I boot that drive and get about 60fps which doesn't drop during take off. My system is a homebuilt AMD 3800+dual core running at 2.6GHz, a BFG 7600GT OC running at 640/1650, a WD 250gig SATA 2 drive. I am using the latest Nvidia drivers and have loaded the lates Nvidia platform drivers and the AMD dual core optimizer and the Microsoft dual core hot fix. I also play silent Hunter 4 and it runs at the same framerate it did before the reload. I've tried setting FS2K4 to low settings and no help. I'm running at 1280 X 1024 32 bit. I've reloaded FS2K4 twice with no change. Lowered video resolutions don't help. Anybody got any ideas.ThanksBill

I got the answer to my problem for a contributor at the flightsim forums. I had neglected to disable force feedback. After I did my FPS went to 60 with all settings on high and antialiasing enabled. I can't believe it had that much effect on fram rates.Bill
