ATC Descent Clearances

Recommended Posts

Guest

ATC in FS2002 seems to have changed Descent Procedures.During the last 4 or 5 flights. ATC has cleared me for descent inincrements of 1000 feet. The last flight I flew was cruising at FL370. On descent, ATC clearedme from FL370 down to 10,000 Feet in increments of 1000 feet.As a consequence, it took me longer to descend and at the end of descent, I was too close to the airport and way above the ILS altitude. On flights prior to this, I was cleared from altitude down to FL200 in one clearance, then to 15,000 feet and then down from there.I used FS2002 flight planner to create these flights.Anyone have any idea why the change?I am assuming that I inadvertantly change some setting somewhere. Thanks for your help,George Meaux (Mo)

Hi George,Have you downloaded any third party instrument panels lately? I downloaded a Learjet panel that I really liked but it caused ATC to issue those "stepped descent" instructions. I finally quit using it just for that reason. As I think about it, it could have been a complete new Learjet model (with a new panel) that I downloaded. At any rate, I recall determining, through elimination, that it was the panel.Try a default plane/panel and see if the problem goes away. R-

I observed recently the same thing and was using the default panel. I am wondering if real weather has something to do with it.
