Nick, yet another question please

Featured Replies

Hi Nick,I too have been "bitten" by your guide to simming bliss. Many thanks as well for taking the time to share this with us.My questions are:I currently have Vista installed on a PC I purchased. I plan on purchasing another harddrive and installing XP SP2 on it for the sole reason of using both FS9 and FSX on it.Ques 1: I would rather purchase a external HD just for convienance. Would this operate as quickly as an internal HD would? If not, I will opt for the internal HD.Ques 2: Can a dual boot system be setup whereas drive C (my current HD) contains Vista, and the new HD would have XP? Is this the best way to setup a dual boot sys?Thank you kindly

1. You did not get bit by my guide.. you got bit by Microsoft because the system did not update properly to true SP2 specifications. I have demonstrated that in several threads.2. No, never use an external drive unless it is a true eSATA connection. USB, firewire externals are DOG slow and even with eSATA I would still prefer internal with good specs however eSATA will also function the same externally if the drive you select for it is fast, and, your motherboard has eSATA ports on the back for that access.3. You have your choice, set them up for dual boot as in install one and then the other so the dual boot system is in place, or, install one and after its complete, disable the drive in the system/BIOS and install the 2nd on another drive and use the BIOS boot screen to select which DRIVE you wish to boot to. The first method is the easiest. The 2nd method requires a bit more experience with hardware
