Just bought my first widescreen monitor....(Acer 19" DVI.. Res. is 1680 by 1050 )What would be the best way to set things up...Do you need to run the screen resolution in the game (FS9...FSX ) the same as your monitor? Does this also apply to your Graphics Cards Resolution? Monitor= 1680 x 1050 NativeFSX Setting =1680 x 1050 8800gts settings =1680 x 1050 And how about Refresh rates? Are higher better? 75 being better than 60....Thanks for any input.....Digital Storm DesktopWindows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts)Case: Digital Storm 850Si Power Supply: 750W Corsair HX (Dual SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition)Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (1066MHz FSB) (8MB Cache)(overclocked) 3.1GHzMotherboard: nVidia 780i Core 2 Quad (By: eVGA) (nForce 780i SLI)Memory: 4GB DDR2 Corsair at 1066MHz Dominator (Dual Channel) (Extreme-Performance)Hard Drive 1: 150GB Western Digital Raptor (10K RPM) (16MB Cache) (SATA) (Extreme Speed)Hard Drive 2: 250GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA)Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 512MB (By: eVGA) (PCI-Express)Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi FPS Fatal1ty Champion (Includes Front I/O Unit)Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 3 WindTunnel (Copper Heatpipe Heatsink & Zalman Case Fans)

I had a 24 dell and now have a 32 inch Sharp Aquos. Both I needed and everyone reccomends run at its native resolution. Its tough cause my Dell was 1920 by x something. Fs9 wasnt a problem but X was. Both have refresh rates at 60 at the rez I run.On my 32 inch I run windowed which eliminated 50% of all the graphics problems I was having. Thats with a 8800gt at 1920/1280.You cannot really hurt anything trying different settings except for refresh rates. If it will let you run a 75 refresh, try it. None of my big screens will.

The way I understand LCDs work, 60Hz will be it - unlike CRTs that can benefit from higher frequencies. It's possible an LCD will take a signal that has higher frequencies, but it can only display 60Hz. That's because there's no scanning electron beam on an LCD - all rows can be on at the same time. On a CRT, the faster the image refresh, the less flicker (anything less than 72Hz can be picked up by the human eye on CRTs). On LCDs, not so as the crystal matrix is essentially always on. However, some monitors don't respond that quickly to shifts in color, and can give you a ghosting effect - that was particularly true of earlier widescreen LCDs. Most refresh in less than 20ms now. I don't think the eye can detect anything below 16ms but I may be completely off here. Native resolution will give you the best picture quality on an LCD, as there is no interpolation needed. Hope this helps,Etienne
