Using Celerons for outside views....

Featured Replies

Im thinking of setting up some external views using WidevieW..Are the Celeron computers, say a little ove 1MHz, powerful enough for WidevieW clients??They seem relatively inexpensive and might be good enough for that.Any ideas??? or comparisons??JohnW

I've been using a P3 1.0Ghz as a WidevieW client without any problems. Some things to consider:(1) With FS2K2, WidevieW will stutter regardless (as far as I know) of client speed. There seems to be some inherent problem with the way WidevieW processes network information that causes to be less smooth than their processing capability would suggest.(2) WidevieW does not have a good way of dealing with AI traffic. It is possible, but not with consistent results. Consequently, most clients are not under the load of having to process AI locations/images. This would favor the argument of using a slower processor for clients with acceptable results.(3) There has been discussion on the WidevieW board (here][/b) about a major upgrade to improve (1) and (2) above.
