Graphics card and CPU change - problem with add-ons?

Featured Replies

Hi, has somebody, who changed his graphics card, had to re-install add-ons (or other problems), because of hardware dependent copy protection mechanisms?Today i ordered a new CPU and a new graphics card, but now i'm worried, because re-installation of FSX and Vista is not an option for me. I even bought the payware version of driver cleaner to avoid a re-install of Vista and i would be really angry if a single add-on would ruin my plan :)Thanks in advance!

I would say no..You should be fine..As far as I know the GPU is only acessed when used...Don't really know about your CPU but I would think it OK as your files are all on your HDD along with your OS......

I assume that you run Raid-5 or frequently make total backups of your pc, because during the life time of FSX the probability of a hard disk failure is far from zero.Ulf B

Thanks for your response, but i meant copy protection mechanisms, which are coupled to the hardware - e.g. creating a unique key which bases on my hardware and if i change my hardware the key would not be valid any more. For instance when i changed my HD i had to re-install the LevelD.If i only have to re-install the specific add-on it would be ok, but it would be helpful for me to know all sources of possible problems.

I save everything on diskettes...
