DX10 Problems

Featured Replies

Hi, I cant get Dx10 Working Properly, when I enable it there it a lot of jagged lines, a lot like AF and AA are not turned on, I have tried turning it on in the game setting, I got same result, I also I tried Nhancer same result. Do you guys have any suggestions? I have 2x 9600gt's with vista x64 and latest nvdia beta drivers. -Thanks

The DX10 preview mode of FSX in SP2/Acceleration does not appear to want to work with FSAA, at least on my Nvidia 8800. I don't know about the ATI variants. Many will tell you that's why it's called a "preview" mode. My personal thoughts on the issue are that it's a combination of (1) needing to release some DX10 features for FSX and a lot of hard work on the ACES team to get some of the stuff in, yet unfinished (2) video drivers that are very shaky in supporting DX10 (for which FSX is only the tip of the iceberg) - DX10 is simply put, very new, and hasn't matured driver wise. Methinks it's also not the title getting the most attention from driver gurus out there. Again, my opinion.Major points for DX10 from my own experience:- faster FPS (+30% on my system), all other settings equal- z-order artifacts on Nvidia gear (causes some texture flicker and missing features, eg, progressive taxi, much more tolerable with latest drivers - was a lot worse three months ago)- lack of FSAA support (cannot be overriden [yet] through Nhancer or other tweaks) - this alone could be responsible for faster FPS- overambitious bloom effect/halo effect- significantly more "eye-candy" with minimal frame rate impact- DX10 preview breaks some DX9 models/textures branded as "FSX" compatible (see Phil Taylor's blog on the subject)I'm afraid that DX10 preview may just be that, a preview of greater, and very exiting things to come. On top of that, your experience may vary as the saying goes. I'm quite happy with DX10 mode, although I found myself having to revert back to DX9 mode to avoid some of the headaches (did someone say manic depression? :) )Cheers,Etienne

Thanks for the write up.
