Running a XP installed FSx under Vista

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but here goes.Having not much on this weekend I installed Vista on a newly built XP based machine. I carefully installed on a separate drive, but I was interested to see what all the fuss. looks good for general use, i thought.Anyhow, I thought I'd run FSx to see what it was like, only to get a Directx error message. Something about version 9. of course it's 10 under vista and 9 under XP.Any ideas if it should work, and what i might do to get it working.thanks

Hi,I don't think that your problem is about DirectX. FSX won't run under Vista if you did install FSX in WinXP. There are a lot of objects that need to be registered in Vista and other data that need to be setup in your Vista, before you're able to run FSX. You need to reinstall FSX in Vista.Ulf B

UlfThanks, That makes sense I guess. I wonder if Vista can search for installed products.....
