October 17, 200817 yr Need a super good processor to run FS10 and the PMDG MD-11. In addition, I also need a good recommendation for a good motherboard also. The power supply is 600 watt rosewell and my present graphics card is an 8800GT. I have 4 gig of ddr800 ram and a Hitachi 120gig hd.Any recommendations for a processor? Should I get Vista 64 and a quad or what? I want to be ready for FS11 when it arrives.Regards, jack
October 17, 200817 yr Any current CPU will run FSX and the MD-11. I personally like Intel CPU's. I would recommend Vista 64 bit and a quad core CPU. That's the future and will probably put you in the best spot for FS11 as I recall reading it will be programmed to use various cores for different tasks. For instance, one core may be used to run weather, one to render textures, etc, etc. All hardware manufacturers have come up with compatible drivers for 64 bit systems so it's a good choice now. I would also recommend upgrading your HD too to at least 250GB. It's a little early to be thinking about hardware for FS11 since that won't be on shelves until at least 2010. Hardware tech changes rapidly and, if you try to keep up with the latest and greatest, you'll be in the poor house fast (just ask me)! Jim
October 18, 200817 yr Jack,I would wait a month or two. Intel Bloomfield CPUs, based on the Nehalem architecture, will be introduced soon. Seems that this will be super good processor. Requires new mobo (LGA 1333/Socket B1) with the X58 chipset.http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3428You need three new DD3 memory sticks (tri-channel) for this board and I guess that DD3 will be standard, if not mandatory, for X58 based mobos.Ulf BCore2Duo X6800 3.3GHz4GB RAM Corsair XMS2-8500C5BFG 8800GTX, Creative SB X-FiFSX Acc/SP2, Vista 32
