Other aircrafts?

Bonjour :)I flew over 60 hours so far in FG. Love it :-jumpy May the divine forces of destiny treat all FG developpers in the most delightfull ways :-beerchugI've looked up the hangar in the "complete user guide"... mentions an F-15, a Harrier and more :-hmmm no visual models though.I've been to that page where to download aircrafts, but they all seem pre V 0.94 I tried a few and noticed different folder/file structure and I'm not wise enough to get them working... if they can.Anyway I could get those or some other aircrafts? I'm very much interested by the Harrier eh :) but I'd sure also like to fly other ones too :-batThank you's very muchQ!

I'm not completely sure which page you are talking about.Have you tried the variety of aircraft in the base package? It isn'tclear from your post if you are looking for more aircraft or if youare simply bored with the Cessna. :)> Anyway I could get those or some other aircrafts? It is, however, very fun (and difficult!) tofly. You need to have a real joystick or throttle axis bound to thethrust vectoring, however.Andy

Bonjour AndyI flew just about every aircraft in there, from YF-23 to Wright Flyer :-bigangel I've been flight simming for ummm 15 years... so far eh. I think I could go throught renaming a visual model file to fit what ever would probably be needed from the "Harrier_set.xal", but I might need some help when I get there ;)I'd "vector" through the hat buttons after editing the joystick.xml of course, althought this might be quite tuff to fly at first, without a panel. But, I don't even have the Harrier fm... and others like the F-15. the Hang Glider...So basically, what I meant is : I want is more aircrafts (or flight models), and hopefully, "da Harrier" :) How-where can I get any? Merci beaucoupQ!

Hi Quebec,It's good to see an enthusiastic response to FlightGear from someone who's obviously spent time on other sims as well :-)It sounds like you have downloaded the 0.9.4 package. A lot of the very-unfinished aircraft were not included in the 0.9.4 base package, both to keep the size down, and to avoid complaints about non-existant visual models, panels and strange behaviour, which a lot of the unfinished models can display.I'm not sure what the best way to add the missing models is, if you want to try them. The full base package is maintained in CVS (a version control system containing the current FlightGear source code and base package, and a record of all revisions made to it over the years), and can be downloaded using a client such as WinCVS (assuming you're on windows). You might need to specify a date tag close to the date of the 0.9.4 release though since incompatible changes to the base could have occurred since then. Efforts are underway to make sure that new aircraft models can be 'dropped in' easily, but I'm not sure if that's possible yet for all of the FDMs, and unfinished ones such as the harrier and F15 are unlikely to be available for download as packages.Good luck if you try the CVS checkout - it can be daunting at first glance, but this is probably the best way to get a full copy of the base package.Cheers - Dave

Hello Dave,>It's good to see an enthusiastic response to FlightGear from>someone who's obviously spent time on other sims as well :-)4 main reasons for my enthousiasm about FG :- The feel of flight feels very realistic. Simply the best from my point view.- All of the great work you all accomplished so far.- The interest of AvHistory in Flight Gear. I've been flying all of their increasingly realisitc flight and damage models for years :) and I can't wait to see and fly what they'll eventually come up with for Flight Gear.- The opportunity and motivation for me to drop MS and move over to Linux... eventually.___Yes I have the 0.9.4 Windows binairies package. I am on XP :-doh>Good luck if you try the CVS checkout - it can be daunting at>first glance, but this is probably the best way to get a full>copy of the base package.I'll be trying. I really wanna fly the Harrier... well, one that behaves realistically :DGetting this WINcvs one from WinCVS.org "Latest Recommended Release: WinCvs 1.3.13.2 (released 2003-08-12)".Merci beaucoup Dave.Q!
