Windows XP Pro Will not run Flightgear?

Featured Replies

I am running winxp pro on a IBM T40p laptop running an ATI Mobility Fire GL9000 64MB video card. I have scoured these forums looking for a response to other questions about this, and not had any luck. When I launch the prog, it shows a command box VERY quickly and goes away. The box looks almost like it is an option box? Not sure though. Either way, does anyone know how I can trouble shoot this? Debugging modes? Etc? Thanks for your help!

Have you installed OpenGL drivers for your videocard? If not, then get the latest video drivers from www.ati.comFlightgear requires OpenGL drivers to run. Some notebook manufactors don't ship OpenGL drivers withtheir notebooks, in this case you should download the videodrivers from Ati.But Ati itself says that you should download them from your notebook manufactore. So ignore that and download the official ATI drivers for Desktop videocards they have OpenGL drivers included. It could be possible that you need to tweak the desktop drivers somehow, so that they can be installed on notebooks.Just use google to find out more about that.Update:This site should help:http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/It allows you to use ATI's desktop "Catalyst" drivers on Notebooks wit ATI mobility chipsets. If that still does not work, use those drivers from that site:http://www.omegadrivers.net/
