August 11, 200421 yr Heya folks. I was wondering if there was a way to easily extract positional co-ordinates from flight gear in real time.If this is possible then I can make it run simultaneously with a cool radar simulator. Thanks kind informational contributorsJono
August 11, 200421 yr The positional co-ordinates for the a/c you're flying are present in the property tree under the /position branch. You can look at this data using the property browser via the 'Browse Internal Properties' entry on the 'File' menu item. The data in the property tree can also be accessed, and changed where appropriate, using either the http or telnet interfaces. However, for these you'd have to keep polling the data you want. There're also a couple of other IO options available, for example, I use the NMEA IO option to drive the Atlas mapping software on another m/c. However, I'm not really familier with thier inner workings so can't tell you much about them. There is some info about them in some of the FG documentation, somewhere... You may have to get this from the FG web-site.I know a few people are working on projects to use FG as a visualisation tool for UAVs, utilising a wireless downlink to provide RT visualisation of the UAV while in flight so something along the lines of what you want to do should certainly be possibleYou might want to try posting this query to the FG user mailing list where some of the coders or more experienced users might be able to help you.
