0.9.6 should run as designed on reasonably capable and up-to-date systems. If it doesn't, then your system may be at fault in someway. That is not to say that there aren't any software bugs, but bugs should not prevent the program from starting. Instead, they should cause a crash to occur while FlightGear is running.If you are having trouble running FlightGear, you need to make sure that you have the latest driver releases for your graphic and sound cards. If there are still faults, then you may need to upgrade your hardware. OpenAl and OpenGl are unsurmountable problems for older cards.Doing some Googling may help you to solve your problems as well. Since your problem is unlikely to be unique, it is probable that your questions may have already been asked and answered.
