Going backwards?

Featured Replies

I have installed fgfs (Mac OS 10.3) and am able to start it, however, the view is strange. It looks like I am flying backwards. The airport or whatever view happens to be in front of me, starts going away from the plane (???????).Initially I thought that it was the view from the rear of the airplane but then noticed that as I moved the joystick, the deflections in roll and pitch corresponded to the view from the cabin forwards.Have anybody a clue of what is this?Another problem is that the help file has never managed to show in the browser (I am using Firefox), after clicking for help.Any help would be much appreciated.Al

Would you mind posting a screenshot?

Thanks for your response. This is a dynamic situation. I don't know if a screenshot would help, since it doesn't convey what happens along the time. Maybe I am missing something with the screenshots in FGFS?Please let me know. Thanks,Al

The problem is: it is hard to visualize your problem without screenshots. What type of aircraft were you flying? May be I can reproduce it on my computer.

I couldn't send a screenshot. It seems that FGFS took the screenshots but when looking for a file .ppm, it was nowhere to be found in my computer.I ended up taking a screenshot with the Mac itself, from the finder and converted it into a JPG, which I am sending as attachment.Hope it helps.Al

It seems flying backward is not your only problem.I will need more information from you. Specifically, I need to know your system's specification, the version of FlightGear you are using, as well as the type of aircraft that you were flying.

Machine Model: Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics) CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.6) Number Of CPUs: 1 CPU Speed: 450 MHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB Memory: 1 GB Bus Speed: 100 MHz Boot ROM Version: 4.1.8f5Using OSX version: 10.3.6FGFS version: 0.9.4I don't know, especifically the type of aircraft, nor I know how to get that info. It seems like a Cessna when looking at the controls.

I have posted your problem on the FlightGear users' mailing list, but there isn't any reply so far. If you want to get help from the developers directly, you can do so by sending an E-mail to FlightGear users' mailing list. However, you will first need to subscribe to it at www.flightgear.org/mail .

I will.Thanks for the help.Al
