February 10, 200521 yr Hi,I am new to the forum so I hope you will excuse my blunders. I have recently downloaded and installed Flight Gear for windows. I am running Windows XP SP2 on A Pentium 4 2.8Mhz system with 256Mb RAM and NVidia GeForce 4 MX440 with AGP8X Vidio Card.I would like to be able to configure Flight Gear to use my Logitech MoMo Racing Force Wheel Model E-UH9, however I have no idea how to do this and am unsure what controlls to assign to what actions, eg, With a wheelwhat controls do you use for the elevators?Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am new to Flight Gear and also The MoMo wheel, have been unsuccessfully trying to get to work with Microsoft Flight Sim 95, and Logitech have no profiles that old or for Flight Gear.Ausimax
February 16, 200521 yr Take a look in the README.Joystick documentation file which can be found in the Flightgear Data/Documentation directory.
February 17, 200521 yr Hi Honkar,Thanks for the help had not found all that documentation yet, will have to do a bit of reading and see what I can sort out.Main problem seems to be there is not enough Axis in the MoMo wheel, when I run js-demo.exe in Flight Gear it recognises the MoMo wheel and reports it as having 6 axis, yet only shows input from the Wheel = axis 0 and Pedals = axis 1. I would like to use the wheel for ailerons, and the pedals for rudder which leaves no axis for the elevators. Have had it flying with MS Flight Sim 95, and it is great the first time I have ever been able to achieve stable level flight, only same problem no elevators, can only control climb and decent with throttle setting, makes landings a little tricky.Contacted Logitech to try and find out how to configure the wheel for flight sims and their response as follows:Customer(Max ) 02/13/2005 05:30 PM I have a MoMo wheel and would like to configure it to operate with Flight Gear and/or Microsoft Flight Simulator 95. Neither have profiles at your sight. My problem is knowing what controls to assign, logic would suggest the wheel to ailerons, pedals to rudder, what then do I use for elevator control? The joystick set-up application in Flight Gear recognises the MoMo Wheel and lists it as having 6 axes, however only axes 0 & 1 react to wheel and pedals and when you test other controls, Gear shift B1-B2, paddles B1-B2, MoMo Buttons numbers listed first Flight Gear second3-4,4-8,5-1,6-2,7-4,8-8. The duplication of some Nos and lack of others add to the confusion. I would be very grateful for any help you can offer, afraid I am in the twilight years and a little slow grasping some concepts in helpfiles.Response (Paka Sampson) 02/13/2005 10:21 PM Dear Max,Thank you for your recent inquiry about your Logitech MOMO Racing. I understand that you would like to use the MOMO Racing Wheel in you flight simulator software.1. First, your pedals need to be in separate pedals mode (that is, not combined). The pedals will probably be in combined mode by default. You can change this either in the game or outside the game. In the game, go into Settings and select Calibrate Joystick. This will bring up Game Controllers from the Control Panel. Select yourwheel and click on Properties. In the wheel's setup window, click on Settings.Uncheck Combined. Finally, click on OK in each window to get back to the game.2. In the game, select Assignments.3. Mark Slew Mode. This will enable you to use more than one controller at the same time. If you do not do this, the game will only take input from one controller at atime.4. The default setting for the pedals is brake for Brake, and gas for Throttle. If you want to change this, click on the Joystick Axes tab in Settings. In the drop down box, select your wheel/pedal device. Now in the table of assignments, double click on a command to re-assign it.The game does not do a very good job of assigning reasonable game functions to devices that have more than the basic "three axis and 4 button" type of controls. As a result it is a good idea to review the game's documentation for setup instructions to see how the controls are assigned to your device. The in-game configuration capability is very good, so it should be fairly easy to change the configuration if you wish. The help documentation on game configuration is also good, and should answer most questions. If you do change the control assignments from within the game, please be sure to duplicate the changes from within the WingMan
