Viewing scenery

Featured Replies

I recently discovered FlightGear, and I am interested in creating a program that takes a view of the world and essentially "flies" down to zoom in to a particular place. I would like to be able to add detail, such as 3D models of buildings, so that I could start from above the earth and navigate to a chosen location. Would it be possible to use the code of FlightGear or modify it to view the scenery of the world on its own, without taking off from an airport, and be able to then focus in on a particular place? Or is it possible to use Atlas or something else to view scenery in 3D at a good resolution? I would appreciate any suggestions or insight. Thanks!
