August 21, 200520 yr HI I jsut installed the flightgear.exe for windows all of that went fine. I then clicked on the desktop shortcut to run the game. When I do that I get a picture of a plain and airport locations. I choose what I want airport and plane click next and see the menu options for some other settings. I set those then hit run. Once I hit run a dos window pops up asking for better I'll copy and paste. Allows you to define a minimum status level (=development status) for all listed aircraftInitial Position and Orientation: --airport=ID Specify starting position relative to an airport --runway=rwy_no Specify starting runway (must also specify an airport) --vor=ID Specify starting position relative to a VOR --ndb=ID Specify starting position relative to an NDB --fix=ID Specify starting position relative to a fixEnvironment Options: --wind=DIR@SPEED Specify wind coming from DIR (degrees) at SPEED (knots) --turbulence=0.0 to 1.0 Specify turbulence from 0.0 (calm) to 1.0 (severe) --ceiling=FT_ASL[:THICKNESS_FT] Create an overcast ceiling, optionally with a specific thickness (defaults to 2000 ft).For a complete list of options use --help --verboseHit a key to continue...Now anytime I try to do anything it just sits there stuck. I tried just hitting any key like it says and I tried to input the data. What am I doing wrong any help would be appreciated and I have gone over the help files or docs whichever they're called. Default says you start off on a runway but I don't see anything but dos window.
August 21, 200520 yr I suspect that there is some weird parameter passed to Flighgear.Try to change some settings and check what happens.I think that the wrong parameter is listed at the top of the dos window.Harald.
August 21, 200520 yr You might want to first make sure that FlightGear itself, without any kind of launcher frontend, works as expected - preferably by running fgfs directly from the console. If it does, then there's a a problem with the launcher itself or at least the way it passes certain parameters to FlightGear, this may indeed be the case as some parameters are known to work only if they're passed using a specific order. So, a good idea might be to save your settings and then start FlightGear without any nifty arguments in order to slowly approach the problematic parameters.
August 22, 200520 yr Hi,didn't you use the FlightGear Wizard? (FlightGear control launcher)If not please go tobinWin32and click left onto fgrun.exeThen you have to select the right pathes (click the right buttons and browse through the folders, let the launcher fill in as slashes "/" are used in the pathes whereas Windows uses the backslash "":EXECUTABLE: binWin32fgfs.exeFG_ROOT: dataFG_SCENERY: datasceneryThe FlightGear Wizard alias FlightGear launch control 0.4.5 is the best possibility to get familiar with FlightGear and Windows OS.I am running FlightGear 0.9.8 and Windows XP Home.Best regardsGeorg EDDW
