FG Win32 user: Tool for ATLAS, MAP and FlightGear/Wizar...

Featured Replies

Hi all Win32 FlightGear user,http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/129022.jpgMAP and ATLAS are tools to get some sort of moving map with terrain, streets, rivers, railway-lines, cities, airport and some navigation infos as well as your aircraft position.MAP creates the pictures which ATLAS displays, as a stand-alone program or connected and synchronized with FlightGear. You can run ATLAS (= the map-display-program) on a separate PC and on one PC connected with FlightGear. In the past it was really difficult for a Win32 user to run Map, Atlas or Atlas and FlightGear/Wizard. You had to run them from a command window or batch-file and this is pretty unused and troublesome for Win32/GUI trained users. At least I felt so and therefore I created a little tool to ease this stuff. It is called FlightGearTools V1.1 as there might be added some more pages with other functionality over the time. Actually it is only a tool as described above.I made a precise tutorial (enclosed in the package) how to get, install and use Map/Atlas and my FlightGearTools. You can get it from the AVSIM library if you are a registred member:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=74593 http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/129023.jpgBUT DO NOT THINK IT IS ONLY A ONE-BUTTON-TASK.- you have to read the long tutorial very carefully- you have to understand what is written- you should not think that there is support if I have the impression that you did not read but just ask!- you might be forced to adapt some parameters to the hardware you use (especially if it is an old PC with some outdated ram and video-card)- you need time to do this all, it is not a 20 minutes jobSO DO NOT DOWNLOAD, INSTALL OR TRY THIS TOOL IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DO SOME WORK YOURSELF! JUST KEEP AWAY FROM IT!To the remaining rest: Have fun with FlightGear and Atlas. Now, after preparation work is done and having the possibility of a working map together with FlightGear, starting with one button-click in FlightGearTools I will not miss that anymore!Georg EDDW
